This post may seem a little, well, obvious. However, in the midst of planning and baking, cleaning and rearranging it can be remarkably easy to overlook something essential to hosting a successful party – tea or otherwise.
Dessert plates. You absolutely need dessert plates. If you are serving anything more than tea, your guests will need something to put their munchies on. While this may seem obvious when you already have cups and saucers on the table it can be easy to overlook.
Napkins. Seriously, even the neatest eater needs to dab at a bit of jam or a drop of tea. Whether you use cloth napkins or a nice brand of paper napkins, find a cute way to fold the napkin and set it on the right of each place setting.
Spoons. I have missed this one before – and oh my goodness, is it ever embarrassing. If you forget spoons, and you are throwing a tea party, well, what exactly are the guests suppose to stir their lumps of sugar into cups of Earl Grey with? If you have tea spoons, those are lovely and just the right size for a cup of tea. I don’t have silver tea spoons, so I use my small dinner spoons and those work just fine.
What are your absolute must-haves for tea parties?
